Crown Entity Governance

Essential core governance for all current and aspiring Crown Entity Board directors
  • Equipping Board members to lead modern Crown entities and purposeful Crown entity Boards.
  • Engage with highly skilled Crown entity governance practitioners about their knowledge and experience on issues relevant to contemporary and good Crown entity governance.

Mā te kahukura ka rere te manu is targeted at current Crown entity Board members (approximately 70% of all participants on every course). While it is neither an induction nor refresher course, an essential part of the Iti Kōpara Trust’s kaupapa is to continue building a diverse talent pool for Crown entity Boards. Therefore, a small number of course participants will be governance practitioners not yet appointed to a Crown entity Board together with a handful of aspiring directors.

Strategic financial governance in the context of Crown Entity Boards can be defined as the board’s responsibility to ensure that the organisation’s finances are managed strategically to achieve  the specific impacts, outcomes, or objectives that the entity seeks to achieve or contribute to, and to provide active monitoring and oversight of the organisational processes by which the entity integrates its strategy, planning, performance, and financial management to achieve them.

The courses have been designed to complement each other, and we strongly recommend applicants also attend Mā te kahukura ka rere te manu | Crown entity governance to ensure greater depth to your governance knowledge. This can be in any order and with substantial gaps between dates. There is no repetition of substantial content across the courses.
